A Buddhist funeral consists of rites performed by monks, while a Taoist funeral consists of rites performed by a Taoist Priest. Each dialect group needs a priest specific to them; for instance the Hokkien people use a SaiGong while the Teochew people use a Gengshi.
The costs involved is drastically different; Taoist funerals typically cost more. The additional costs goes to paper offerings, much more food offerings and sometimes even elaborate rites.
